Traffic OP - Great Lever

Bolton South Neighbourhood and Bolton council enforcement team were engaged on an operation this week targeting vehicles that are suspected to be involved in the illegal carrying of waste and scrap metal. The purpose of the OP was to ensure that those carrying waste and scrap had the necessary permits to do so and were intending to dispose of it lawfully. It has been previously highlighted how illegally dumped waste is a blight on our communities and an environmental hazard. Officers also checked that the vehicles were road worthy and legal.

As a result, Bolton Council enforcement have issued 5 warning letters allowing the carrier 7 days to provide a valid carriers licence. If they fail to do so they will be prosecuted.

In total:

18 vehicles were stopped carrying waste/scrap:

5 Traffic offences were highlighted 

2 vehicles were seized for having no insurance.

1 passenger was found with drugs and was issued with an out of court disposal notice.
